Freelance Writing is (Hard) Work
What is the purpose of Freelance Writing is Work?
Help freelance writers who are just starting their career online by sharing practical tips that I've learned and applied as I build up my freelance writing career.
Are you really a writer?
Yes, I am. I was a content writer at a local advertising agency for over four years. When I was in the corporate world, my job was to write articles, website content, product descriptions and other digital marketing copies for our clients from different industries.
Whoa, for real? What niche do you specialize at?
The topics I am familiar with are...
- Digital Marketing
- Real Estate
- Shopping or Retail
Wait, why did you leave your day job? Are you crazy?
Not really. It took me a year to decide because being a full-time freelance writer is no joke. On the bright side, I love the idea of working on a variety of projects that I could only achieve while I work freelance. I am interested working with online publications, small to big time companies and advertising agencies.
Is it true that your first job is not related to writing?
Huh? Where did you get that? Anyway, I was a programmer in a bank for more than three years and I am an Information Technology graduate. I did not stop writing though. During those years, I was a staff writer (and associate editor) in my college paper and a volunteer contributor in my first job's in-house company magazine.
How did you end up in the Information Technology industry?
Forgive me for I have sinned. I thought programming is sexy but writing is my first love. First love never dies!
Are you available for work?
I am glad you asked. Of course, I am. Be warned though because I write not to impress or to get instant gratification. Writing is my passion. I love writing to bits and I fell in love with it since grade school days. I have piles of notebooks to prove it.
I am originally a creative writer who spent my elementary and secondary years writing fiction. I could also be a brand storyteller who can write copies that are interesting, engaging, informative and relatable in a fun and conversational way. Expect this kind of tone all throughout this website.
Who is behind Freelance Writing is Work?
Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Donna Rose Consulta and this is my online diary where I write my awkward yet fun quest on how to be a freelance writer.
Where we could reach you?
