Start Here - A Quick Overview

Is this another freelance writing website?

Yes and no.

Yes, because what you will read here are all about freelance writing topics for beginners like you and me.

Yup, I am also writer who wants to earn money by writing online. Aside from this, if you are like me who:

  • Decided to leave a nine-to-five job in exchange of job flexibility.
  • Has zero experience on how to be an online freelance writer.
  • Wants to land a decent freelance writing job.

You are in the right place. Thru this website, I am going to share to you the problems I have faced while I am starting my freelance writing career and how I overcome it. Problems like feeling lost on how to start being a freelance writer; where to find decent freelance writing gigs; and the mistakes/red flags you should avoid.

On the other hand, when I say this is not a freelance writing website it is because only experienced online writers can do that. This is an online diary of my mistakes, challenges and milestones that I know every newbie freelance writer might experience as well.

I condensed it into three categories and what kind of topics it will cover:

  • Freelance Writing (Practical Tips about Freelance Writing, Jobs, Blogging, Gigs, etc.)
  • Content Marketing (Inbound, Content and Affiliate Advertising, etc.)
  • Technology (WordPress tips, Web hosting and domain registration, etc.)

Are you overwhelmed because of the wide range of topics this website will tackle? You are not alone because like you I was confused as to why I need all of these just to start a freelance writing business.

Uh-huh. You read it right. Freelance writing is not all about writing online per se. You must treat it as a business as well. In order to be a successful freelance writer it is not enough that you submit hundreds of resumes, cover letters and portfolios. You also need to promote your services and find clients your own.

In short, you must think and act like an entrepreneur. It took me some time to acknowledge, accept and digest this scary fact. Honestly, I am still in the process of adjustment and you will witness it all on this website.

I realized freelance writing is not only a gig or a part-time job because it needs serious dedication and commitment to be successful. Never treat it like a temporary job or sideline.

Freelance writing is work—a full-time work and it would be better to treat it like one while you are starting.

Join me in my awkward quest on becoming a full-time freelance writer.
